Using a Touchpad

Bah!
Windows updated my Touchpad driver again, managing to reset ALL of my settings like it always does, back to the default with the "tap" mode enabled.
I purposely buy laptops with clicky mouse buttons because I dislike how inaccurate tap clicking can be, and how easily I can accidentally click things due to the way I lift my finger all the time when using the touchpad.
And yet, every time it updates, back the settings go...

|!!ARGH| RAWR!! |ARGH!!|

I also had to disable horizontal scroll, again, because... Man, that doesn't work well! It's far too sensitive, and slows down normal scrolling. Same with Pinch/zoom and other fancy things that the touchpad "could" do, if it wasn't actually a bit shite at doing them.

Oh, and don't get me started on "No input for a second, if you hit a key on the keyboard".. God damn, that setting can burn up and die!!

What are your preferred touchpad settings?
Or are you sticking with a mouse?

I've used touchpads out of necessity when travelling with a laptop, and while it's not usually an *awful* experience, it's definitely frustrating at times. Definitely prefer to use a mouse and will do so whenever possible.

When I was younger, there was a short period where I had a laptop but no mouse, and was trying to play some FPS games with the touchpad for a little while. That was certainly... and experience. Mouse ftw!

FPS games with touchpads is not fun at all!

I still keep discovering new features of touchpads. I have 2 click buttons but last year I discovered that ticking the touchpad with 2 fingers is the right mouse button.

I have no room here for a mouse so the touchpad wil have to do. I did buy a joypad for minecraft as the touchpad was not really working with that one.

I ignore my touchpad completely and ensure I turn it back to off after every Windows update (they always turn it back on. Why? FFS).

Mouse all the way for me.

On my last update, Windows decided that my Microsoft Arc Mouse that I have been using for a few months now, was in fact really my old Apple Magic Mouse which has been setting in its box for those same few months. Then shortly after that, maybe 15-30 minutes into using the laptop, that I in fact had no bluetooth adapter!!

Aaah, Windows. We try to love you, but you make it so hard, sometimes...
