SyntaxBomb Server Shuffle

Copy&Pasted from an email from SyntaxBomb staff

Sorry to spring this on you but we're off to another server and migration will begin as soon as I've posted this :o

Naturally a few posts may / will go missing between migration ( ones posted after I start the migration up until it's over ). Hopefully will only take a couple of hours and then I'll repoint from the old server to the new one and then change the domains DNS as to keep interruptions to a minimum.

So waffle between yourselves until I post saying it's all done ;D

Yeah, got the mail as well.

I guess, because the server is moving, they sent this email to every registered user, manually.

The unsubscribe link does not work because this is kinda 'important' and one time notification, because of the server change, there is nothing to unsubscribe from.
And the rest of the text was just the standard template for unsubscribing.

In my days, that was known as a a Mail-Merge error.

Mail-Merge error ? Idk what that is.

according to a googled url :
Mail merge error when a data source is accessed by multiple users in Word

Hmmm ...

Well, what i wanted to say in my last post, from my viewpoint, is:

They used the forum's mailer to inform every user.
Normaly, you have to subscribe to get Mails from them, but because they have chosen to sent it manually, through the forum software, no subscription was added, and no one needs to unsubscribe.

Yeah, sorry about SB sending all members an email. I thought the "Announce Topic" would just put a banner at the top of the forum and not send out hundreds of emails, eek!

Until the next time...

LOL!
Live and Learn.
.. then promptly forget, and remember about 2 seconds after you do it next time.

I'm sure people don't mind getting emailed about server changes and such. It's important enough, right?!

There were few websites, disappearing without anyone knowing what's up ... even if you have had subscription to their forum ...
Well at least sandboxie got an alternative forum and became freeware.

In my oppinion, server change may or may not work and if it don't, then the website may be off for a longer period of time.
And as long as there is no spam emails, it is ok to get such important informations. I guess.
