The A500 Mini

The fake Amiga with a fake keyboard.

It's up for Pre-order on Amazon, now.
£114.95, at time of posting, with a release date of 25th of March, 2022.

Does A500/A1200 with AGA, and contains the following games.
Alien Breed 3D
Alien Breed: Special Edition'92
Another World
Arcade Pool
ATR: All Terrain Racing
Battle Chess
Cadaver
California Games
The Chaos Engine
Dragons Breath
F-16 Combat Pilot
Kick Off 2
The Lost Patrol
Paradroid 90
Pinball Dreams
Project-X: Special Edition 93
Qwak
The Sentinel
Simon the Sorcerer
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
Stunt Car Racer
Super Cars II
Titus The Fox: To Marrakech And Back
Worms: The Director's Cut
Zool: Ninja Of The "Nth" Dimension

You can add your own WHDLoad formatted games.

No Lemmings, No Megaball, No Deluxe Galaga, but at least they have Arcade Pool, so that's ok.

Any takers?

I've still got a (hopefully!?) working A600 here, so not for me, but they ARE selling a Classic Amiga mouse (albeit USB), which .. Yeah, I might grab one of those. I have a USB-Mouse dongle on my Amiga, already.

(Though, my Amiga originally came with the newer curved Amiga mouse, but.. it'll do.)

Not for me either... I'm not into these "Mini" things anyway, if I was to get an Amiga setup, it would be a proper one, and to be honest, they probably cost the same, if not less.

Still, there will be people who would like this type of setup for quick retro blasts without having to muck about with outputs and all that!

You'd be surprised.
I have NES, SNES, MegaDrive and PS1 minis, alongside a C64-in-a-joystick and an Atari 2600-in-a-joystick..

Having to plug all those into a single HDMI input is going to be one hell of a complicated amount of insane wire-chaos!!

Nothing better than an Amiga with a real keyboard.

Having bought the c64 mini, my main dissapointment with it was "not a real keyboard", especially when it's emulating a computer with a built in keyboard that it actually needed to function properly. As a keyboard is nothing more than 100 or so switches, adding one would have literally cost them another £3 per unit, which they could have easilly passed on to the RRP, so no loss of profits at all by doing so.

Would like one, but will wait to see if the price comes down.

The c64 has a uniquely laid out keyboard so it makes sense for the full sized model with a working keyboard there, and the mini is good for just playing games without taking up space.

If they made this full size with a working keyboard it would be too big imo. On the other hand if they make one in the image of an A1200 that would be perfect. However, a modern pc keyboard is close enough so you could plug one off those into the A500 mini and not lose out on functionality.

I don't really have anything for the Amiga series, having never owned one and only briefly played with one at a neighbours house as a kid. Will pass on thissun

Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!

If I want to play emulated games I might as well just use my lappy. No fuss. Full complement of games available and savestates etc. Thing is, I don't play any games really nowadays and that includes new games for new consoles.

While I love the idea, I haven't bought any of these machines. I did get a MD one free years ago (witha magazine subscription), but I've no idea where it is now.

If I were to get one, I think I'd prefer it to look different. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love a classic Amiga, but if you aren't doing a proper keyboard, you've pretty much wasted the form factor.
Do something new and imaginative with it.

I'm more interested in that steam deck device. It has a low price( But it is huge though) It might be a year before you can order one and have one the next day.

The part with that mouse and joypad was pretty good. If games like dune2 and civ were on it by default, then it would be even better.

I still have the notion that one day computers wil come with software that detect unlicensed roms google docs have a built in copyright detection Apearantly.

A better review by someone who has a proper understanding of an Amiga

On a Amiga Facebook group. They were mentioning the joypad and mouse would become collectors items. Being a reason to buy it for that alone.

I ordered the mouse, and am hoping it can hook up to my real A600, but that USB connector's being really glitchy for some reason.

Is it clean? I blew up a fryer a while ago. The cable plug was greasy

I would expect that smaller companies have less time and people to test their hardware?

I think the issue is the Amiga itself, or rather the power. It doesn't quite have the oomph to cope with a 1Mb Memory expansion, a PCMCIA Compact Flash drive, and also a USB dongle with a USB mouse attached.

With the USB Dongle attached, weird things happen on the Ami.
If I plug a standard mouse in, no problems.

Damnit..

-=-=-

From here

No ADF / IPF (Floppy Disk) support, meaning you cannot load Floppy Disks in
No HDF (Hard Drive) Support, so you cannot load Hard Drive images in
No RP9 (Amiga Forever) Support, which I did try to get via Twitter – But alas nothing was done upto this point – If this was added on its own, It would also then enable ADF / HDF Support, since these are wrapped inside the Amiga Forever RP9 Files, making this option a good addition if they decide to do that

What would be cool, would be a small 7-8inch working computer monitor to go with it.
