The PS3 is the more powerful hardware, but I still don't think the dev'rs are quite there, yet.
And, given that the next-gen can't be too far away, I'm starting to really doubt that the PS3 will ever show it's true colours.
It'll be X360 ports, and equivilants all the way. Which is a shame, because I really had hopes for it, when they announced it.

Given that, gameplay wise, the two really aren't much different.. You might as well settle for the X360.

It's cheap and cheerful, and it does what it's meant to. Who can argue with that?

If Sony dropped the price of "Bog Standard Edition" in line with the £129 X360, then maybe.. But.. I really really really doubt that'll happen anytime soon!

I only know two people who rave about how good their PS3 is. One has never played any games on his, the other has only ever bought one gaem: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. He was disappointed that it was just a demo. Essentially they bought it as a blue-ray player, not a console, which seems to be the only area where the PS3 wins.

The machine has an excellent CPU and better fans then the 360, and that's about it. In every other way it seems to be inferior to the 360. Harder to program for and I don't even think the case is as pretty. Ultimately games decide and not the machine. With most of the good titles also being available for the 360 (plus more on the 360) and for less, I don't think it's as good a machine.

But obviously the Wii is teh best, FTW!

I'm also stewing over this debate. I like both consoles, but I think XBox 360 will win by default, due to attraction of being able to Indie-Dev on it.

Wii seems to have won this generation, at best the others can come in at a close second. As the price comes down, the PS3 will regain ground. But it's still vastly outsold.

Does it matter how popular a game console is? Typically yes! (In my opinion) it has an impact on how likely developers are willing to develop for a console, as well as how much time and money they will spend (and the same for publishers too). Although my favourite all time console is still the Dreamcast, which was a bit of a flop.

Absolutely. Dreamcast still beats all others!
Soul Calibur + VGA = yowser!

It really has been a bit of a mixed bag, this gen.. And, I think it'll effect the next gen, moreso.
On the onehand, we have Super-Megariffick systems, without games, and on the other, we have "Same-same" systems with loads of folks playing them, and hardly any developers really supporting them, because they all spent too much time expecting everyone to buy the better kit.
Kinda threw them all off guard, and with the economy in the crapper, it's all getting weirder!

I really have no idea what'll happen next, but whatever does happen, if the next-gen don't have Wii-pointer style usability, they're damned from the get go!
That thing's the most useful device I've ever attached to my telly!

The dreamcast was pretty awesome. I remember those Sonic games I used to play. I'm only 11 and I'm already feeling nostalgia.
