Chicken is one of my least favorite meats (gammon is worse), whilst beef is my second favorite (ostrich is like super-beef)!

Although I really like frogs legs; which is similar to chicken (but much nicer).

I don't really care what kind of meat it is, but I prefer raw steak with a healthy serving of Vodka at the side. If you add an eggyolk or two, it is a very healthy meal!
For the record I hate fish.

If steak is so healthy why do vegetarians, especially those brought up in a vegetarian culture live longer healthier lives? with far less instances of most cancers and other complaints such as heart disease and cholesterol?

Steak isn't neccessarily 'healthy', but it isn't exactly unhealthy either. It depends on the quality, fat contents etc. Egg yolks are superhealthy though!

Lots of vegetarians take more of an interest in what they eat, and as a result they plan out a better diet. That's actually one of the reasons why my brother (temporarily) became a vegetarian.

Lots of non-vegetarians also tend to have a view that every meal requires meat; it isn't a meal without it. Lots of meat == lots of fat, which causes lots of health problems. Eating anything in excess, including too many vegetables, is bad for you regardless of what it is.

How can you eat too many veggies?

spinal How can you eat too many veggies?

It comes down to variety.

Pretty much all vitamins and nutrients are harmful when regularly taken in excess. If you don't have variety in your diet, if your eating specific vegetables in excess, then you can be taking in harmful levels of nutrients.

For example folic acid is very good for you. 200g of spinach contains your recommended daily amount. But eating 500g (400g for women) has you at the absolute upper limit of how much folic acid you should take in. If you regularly eat more then this, then it can hide vitamin B12 deficiency (which in turn can cause permanently damage the brain and nervous system). If your pregnant then this can also cause an increased chance of asthma in your children.

Even if your not gauging yourself on spinach every day, the other issue is that if you eat lots of certain types of foods then you may only be receiving certain nutrients. You can be missing out on other things required to maintain health. Plenty of vegetarians take supplements, or ensure they include very specific types of foods, in order to help counteract this.

|edit| Another example of the above is that many pro-fruit and vegetable campaigns recommend you eat items of different colours, because they tend to have different nutrients. |edit|

In short, _just_ vegetables is bad for you (and actually dangerous if always raw). A variety of vegetables + fruit + nuts + other non-animal products (raw and cooked) can be perfectly healthy.

The eggs and vodka I can handle, but raw meat, I think I'll pass on that one.

I've more or less cut steak, red meat, and most meat in general out of my diet. That also includes bacon (I can hear the sound of bones cracking under the force of all those heads spinning around, glaring at me). Just doesn't taste that good anymore, and it doesn't really do a anything for me that other foods don't already. Been playing with the idea of going vegetarian, but I still like dairy products and seafood, so it'd be hard to take up. Moderation is probably the best thing when it comes to eating - picking extremes (only eating meat or vegetables) probably isn't that good of an idea.
