Socoder -> Handheld Coding -> MOGA Controller

The MOGA is an Android controller similar to the iControlPad (though there might be a better analogy-- I'm a bit out-of-touch with mobile bluetooth controllers). The normal controller is a bit small and wonky, and certainly a bit overpriced at $50 USD. I'm mentioning it because I got one for free at PAX East (seriously! They were just handing the things out if you were willing to stand in a line), and I gave it a whirl.

It's wonky, like I said. The control set is limited and it feels a bit stiff, but when games are designed for it, it plays very well. The API is predictably easy-to-use, so that developers will use it and effectively popularize the device. Support isn't huge at the moment, but there are some nice games out there that support the device.

The MOGA Pro controller is coming out soon for the same price (Or $37.49, if you use the coupon code "MOGAzombie" within the next few days), and it looks significantly better. It's got all the cool buttons you'd expect from an Xbox 360-style controller, and it can optionally interface with the phone in bluetooth HID mode. I'm going to preorder it, and I suppose I'll see how that goes. If it's any good (or even if it's not), I'll report back when I get the product in the mail.

The original MOGA's slidey-sticks aren't the best, but they're miles better than touch directionals.
It is a bit limited if you're only using the official software, but it works a treat with most emus if you install the free MOGAIME some lovely bloke coded up.

I have an iControlPad2 in the post as I was a kickstarter backer, I wanted it for my arduino and my phone so it should be good.

the ICP2 is opensource so you can tinker.

I do like the look of the MOGA Pro, one thing about gaming on my phone/tablet is the controls are terrible

Looks like it's been assimilated by the Borg. Wonder if it shoots nano-probes into its users?

Thanks for the heads-up and code, BTW. I've got a MOGAPro on order now, too.

I have an iCP 1, the main problem with it is unfortunately everything except the battery.
All of the controls are too small for people with regular size adult hands, the dpad is far to squishy, not to mention theres no plastic keeping it on, it's just glues to the rubber contact. the 'shoulder' buttons are on the back at the bottom, so you have to use the wrong fingers to push them and the analog pads are possibly the worst i've ever used on any controller ever. imagine the 3DS circle pad with the added bonus of not working properly. They only have about 3mm movement, but a signal range of 0 - 128 making it very difficult to use for anything with precision. But best of all, It never ever connects to any of my WIndows machines.

Other than that though, the battery lasts a long time

LOL. You're not the first to complain about the iCP. And there's millions more complaints about the iCP2. Well, more about "where is it?" to be precise.
