Yeah, but if you don't make a forum for it on there, someone else probably will.
Maybe you don't care one way or the other, but that is essentially THE ouya forum - official one be damned.

Ed will probably make a thread, he did for my game (which I later took over). The unofficial does get a lot more traffic from users than the official one, which seems mostly to be full of people complaining about the same things over and over.

One item that comes up again and again on those forums is that about replayability. I've never really seen it mentioned elsewhere.

Lots of users are saying that they wouldn't pay $1.00-$2.00 (or more) for an app with no replayability once the game is completed.

This surprises me, as I don't buy ANY game to replay it - I buy it to enjoy the experience while it lasts; if it has replayability (ie hidden extras/unlockables etc.) then that to me is a bonus. To me these moans are like complaining to Cadbury's after eating a chocolate bar stating that while you enjoyed it, you can't enjoy it again after you've eaten it. Surely it's the experience that matters?

If you read the stats (and if they are accurate) most players don't actually complete most games anyway, so this seems really odd to me. I know some games are designed to be replayed time and time again, but others aren't.

Or is it just me?

Replayability's a bitch to get right, but also something that is really difficult to get "just right" on mobiles.
As well as "short and sweet" kettle-boiling moments, you have to account for those who will happily sit down and plough through the entire game in one sitting... And expect that sitting to last a long period of time!!

I tend to focus on short and sweet, with my replayability angle simply being a case of "you can do better" more than anything changing along the way.

My games don't do lengthy well!

Longevity is a different matter entirely and nobody is ever going to be perfectly happy with any game's length - too short/too long etc. etc.

I just don't get the mentality of a game HAVING to be replayable (and offering something new as opposed to just replaying through the same game again) though, even more so for games costing mere pennies or even free. Players nowadays want the penny and the bun for the mere cost of 69p (or less!).

Generally during dev, I have to keep replaying level 1 over and over and over. I find that anything I've released that's been popular is typically something that I didn't get bored with, even if I were playing an identical Level 1 over and over again!!

Variety/longevity is important, but if the player gets bored on level one, you've had it!

Is probably a good place to pimp your wares as it seems a generally more decent place than the official forums as it's already been said

Yeah. Nobody on the planet will ever play our games more than we do during development.

You do have to remember that you pump games out at a rate of knots - most devs will see maybe one or two of these emails a year, so they wouldn't be seen as spam.

BTW Jay, I haven't forgotten about finding my old W8-BEN I've just been inundated. I found an old blank one, but not the completed one I thought I knew where it was still, but obviously not. I will find it though.

Are you suggesting I slow down!?!?
...
You crazy monkey!!!

Recently they've changed the rules of their main game forum so that "Only official devs can make topics about their games", SPECIFICALLY to force more devs to HAVE to use their forum.

They can FUCK right off...

TBF The Unofficial Forum is better than the official forum and every other OUYA forum out there. But that's not saying a great deal

I wouldn't dare argue that it's a bad forum, I'm just suggesting that, perhaps, spamming the fuck out of the entire internet isn't the best way to get new members!

If the "Twitterbot follow/unfollow/follow/unfollow/follow/unfollow/follow/unfollow" crap hadn't initially tipped me off to this guy being a giant spambot, I probably would've already signed up.

I think that's jolly decent of him tbh.

I actually like the unofficial OUYA Forums tbh - there's some very good and thought provoking info there. Yes, there is also a load of shit, but you get that everywhere - look at our advent calendar discussions (which I really enjoy btw).

Hopefully you won't get any more emails from them, but at least you know that they were created just for you (but based on a script )
