See if you can spot the difference between the following two windows.
Notice how they're the same folder.

The two images are taken mere second apart. I dragged an mp3 into the folder, went up a folder, then back in again..
See what Vista did.
It noticed there was ONE mp3 in there, and decided that it'd be better to show me a list of useless information rather than filenames and filesizes and regular info.
How nice of it.

That shit happens everywhere in vista. It doesn't care.. It just wants to annoy you!

I've been putting up with this for about a month, now, and I'm really getting annoyed by it's stupid ways of ticking me off.

I'm so very tempted to shove XP back on here, but I'm kinda settled into the system, and there's tons of garbage on it already.
Although it's not just me that's using up the HD space, here.. Vista managed to fill up 50Gb of "Restore Points" within the first 2 weeks.
*Checks now*
Used 115Gb
Runs Disk Cleanup
Used 98.8Gb.
*Sigh*
Going to have to do that often, methinks...

Oh, and my keyboard's multimedia keys don't work with Coolplayer anymore.

And since the new Intel driver still sucks, I still don't have working directX.

GO VISTA!!

Jay,

can you install Windows XP on your new computer.
Provided that you first save any revelant info and files first. Then wipe and clean off Vista.
Hasta Vista It!!

It's possible, but it's iffy, and I really don't want to screw up the system more than it already is. I might dig out a spare harddrive and try popping in a pre-installed XP, see what happens with that. It'll probably throw a hissy-fit

XP does stuff like that every now and again, mainly with changing the size of a view. But 100gb of system restore points is too much (my pc has 200gb, and I don't consider that small). Can you really not reduce the amount it makes?

I think that when I decide to get a new PC (probably a while yet, cos mine is only 2 years old), I will keep my current one for back-up, just in-case Win/Vista is still a load of crap. i always thought that new technology was supposed to be better, but it seems to be getting crappier. One example, MS anounce the releas of XNA, and then I've came across stories stating that XNA dont work on Vista. I think this could spell the end for Vista as we already know it.

If you're worried about XP not liking being carted around between different computers, don't worry about it. I keep WinXP on my external hard drive, so I can take the drive out and put in a computer if I need to. Most complaints I've ever had are about video drivers, so I had to deal with using 800x600 for about 5 minutes while I found the video driver install CD.

yeah,

magicman and yak.

I plan to get a new computer soon. Still don't
want the crappy and vile Vista. ha! Vile Vista. true

I would even open the door and take Windows 98
or even 95 with their infamous Blue Screen of Death over
Vista.
