SoCoder Widgets

19th March 2007

Last night one of my friends made a MIDI version of The IT Crowd theme using a spectrometer to work out which notes to play. *Shakes head*
I'm not worried about extra features for the forum. To me, this is just a forum. I don't use the other bits much.

Sexiest Keyboard in the World: Part 5?

14th March 2007

On the keyboard in my loungeroom, engine oil from cars is commonly found between keys. Yick.
I have a $20 keyboard from Logitech that I've been using for years. Even with the engine oil, it's never stopped working (thinking about it, the oil probably lubr*snip*

Oi, Vista, NOOOooo!!

14th March 2007

If you're worried about XP not liking being carted around between different computers, don't worry about it. I keep WinXP on my external hard drive, so I can take the drive out and put in a computer if I need to. Most complaints I've ever had are about vid*snip*

Hello

It is kind of a cult, isn't it?
Welcome!

MUD Chat

7th March 2007

I've become addicted to IRC. I've run out of time to do everything.
Also, I talk to people on MSN instead. I like the Gaim client more than the MUDChat interface.

blitzbasic.com has left the server.

2nd March 2007

What a way to kill off Blitzcoder!

Game Requirements

28th February 2007

You can set up VM's such as Qemu, Bochs, etc, to have certain specifications. While these aren't completely accurate, they give a good indication of performance. They are a bit tricky to set up though, especially Bochs.
When you find a set of specificatio*snip*

Internet

23rd February 2007

There is no way of doing it in standard C. You'll have to use an external library.
Microsoft has a TCP/IP library to use. There's also a POSIX sockets library (also TCP/IP, afaik). I don't know the exact name of either of these, because I've never tried d*snip*

Went to devcrunch...whoa!!

22nd February 2007

Christian Coders came first. In the beginning, Krylar's Blitzcoder was supported and run off the same server as Christian Coders, IIRC.

If you click the 'Time until Deadline' link at the top, you get about 5 days remaining.

Went to devcrunch...whoa!!

21st February 2007

Blitzcoder is dead. It died with the leaving of Krylar. It was his baby, and nobody else could care for it in the way that he could.
Now, Socoder is Jay's baby (you know what I mean). It's the new Blitzcoder. Different, perhaps, but the soul is the same. *snip*

The Ashes

21st February 2007

How dare you! :P
It's better than those silly dark green ones we had during the Commonwealth Bank Series. Also, why on earth was it sponsored by Commonwealth Bank? Why not VB, like usual, even if VB is complete ****.

Bad Vista

13th February 2007

I prefer Office to OpenOffice, and prefer 2000 versions of MS products to any others.
I use MacOS X most of the time, and I'm pretty happy doing that.
I couldn't use VS at any time, it's GCC or nothing.

As if us Brits don't have enough to pay out...

11th February 2007

Steve: Methanol is similar to Methane, but they are different chemicals. Methanol is simply methane with an OH molecule bonded to the end of it.
If they had a computer tax, I would be even more broke than I am now. Though, how would you meter it, and how *snip*

It would be. Let's all be libertarian anarchists.
Luckily I live a long way away from the British government's reach. This is hugely Orwellian, and your country is sliding down that slippery slope very quickly now.
Today in the paper I read that somebody*snip*

7th February 2007

It's the funnest game I've played in the last year, full stop.
Back in the days of BC, I really respected Anthony, and the saga of his game and what has happened to him legally just makes me respect him more.

I'm going to try and learn Norwegian. Bit hard when I don't know a single person who speaks it. But I've got a book, and the internet knows everything. I want to visit Europe next year, especially Norway. Absolutely no idea why.
