The Lump

What began on Monday as my standard headache/neck thing has now become something more serious.

After vomiting quite a bit over Monday night, a drastic change in vomit colour on Tuesday to a dark oddly viscous black stuff (which I'm assuming was probably more Redish, but was too dark as it glooped its way down the toilet) and it was decided that an Ambulance night be required.

The Ambulance arrived and my blood pressure was estimated to be about 250, but only because that's as high as the monitor goes.

Tuesday - Bolton Royal.
Blood pressure still at insanely high levels, they decide to send me for a CT scan to check out the pain in my neck.

And there it is...
A "something"..

So me and mum sit in a hospital, worrying about a lump, and they organise to shift me to Salford Royal, where they best Neurosurgeon is apparently waiting for me.

Wednesday - Salford Royal

The blood pressure wasn't going to help, so the day was to be spent trying to get it down, whilst figuring out why the hell its so high in the first place.

Since I couldn't ever remember getting my blood pressure checked previously, this is still not a resolved issue. It may very well be that I've always had high blood pressure.. no idea. Go get your stats checked, kids!

Meanwhile an MRI..
The scan reveals slightly more, but worryingly not enough.
The lump is a "something" with a large amount of fluid surrounding it. The first job is to stick in a drain, and get down to the core.

Friday - Drain Take Two..

Far too much blood presssure meant that Thursday, and most of Friday was a case of having buttloads of little calming pills of one variety or another. By Friday afternoon, it was time to begin..

They knocked me out, thank god!

Saturday and Sunday - All Wired up

I had little recollection of falling under, and barely any feeling of oddness upon waking, but the wires were there.. oh, boy, where there wires!?

Things going in, things coming out, monitoring pads and all the rest.
The thing coming out was probably the more interesting one, since its the big drainy thing, and its the important piece of the puzzle, so far..
Having now been sat here draining away for nearly two and a half days, I find it worrying that theres been at least 500mls of random unimportant fluid up inside my head..
That's a whole Damn can of pop up there!
Fooook!

Monday is next, and with any luck we should now get to see exactly what this inner core is made of.
This is the scary part, imo.. whatever the lump is, it'd better come out nicely!

Fingers crossed...

Good luck with everything Jay. Not sure what to say, but after this is all over, no doubt you'll no longer have a bad neck and be able to sleep properly.

And don't forget to ask the surgeon to keep the lump for you so that you can keep it pickled in a jar.

Joking asside, hope it all goes well, I'll be thinking of you Bud.

No news...
Wait for five to ten days for more info, apparently.
