A Super Excellent Day!

Ngh...

Long rubbishy day, today.
Got asleep about 1am, having stayed up to read stuff about the PS3 launch.
At 3am the cat decided to wake me up.
Ngh..

For some reason, I couldn't get back to sleep.
I spent a few hours playing about with Myspace.com and Tagged.com, finding a few old schoolmates, as you do.

5am.
Listened to a bit of music, and watched a few Jpop videos.

7am.
Downloaded Zelda : Link to the Past on the Wii.

9am.
Got bored with Zelda : Link to the Past, but am definately glad I bought that Classic Controller yesterday! Playing that with a Gamecube controller would probably be 10x worse than trying to play Super Mario World with it!

10am.
Started working on website for a bit.

12am.
Got tired, had a nap.

5pm.
Up, Quick shower, Eat quick, Out to work.. Silly me overslept.

10pm.
Got home.
Confused by Wii's lack of Online features.
No matter, played a bit more Zelda.

11pm.
Got upstairs to find Bluescreened "Old PC"

...

The old PC, the hub of my home's network, was now well and truely dead.

It would boot XP no more.
That's one dead-dead Processor.
And quite warm, too!

...

I shut everything down, and opened up New and Old PC
Took out the C drive from the old one, and took a peek in the new one.
The old drive is IDE, the new one has a what-sit little cable thing.
Old one IDE port, so the HD and DVD drive are sharing. Probably not the best idea, but it's working!
XP wouldn't boot.
I disabled the fancy-pants-little-cable drive, and set the oldy to be the C.
XP reinstall disk in hand, off it went.

12am
With the fancy-pants drive still disabled in BIOS, I wasn't entirely sure what I'd do about moving files between the two, but I figured if XP boots, I'd have the option to disable one or the other to boot into the two OS's.
Imagine my surprise, then, when XP actually found the other drive, anyway! Even though it was still disabled!

So, now, here I am, in a newly installed WinXP system on my new PC.
It works.
It doesn't give me lists of MP3 artists.
It lets me have DirectX working without flickering the screen like a crazy lemon.

But.

I no longer have an SVideo out port. So everything from here onwards is going to be single-monitor only.

---

Jay's list of things to do.

For starters, all my server stuff (the whole of this site and more), and all of my coding stuff (from Early QBasic through to Latest DS) is on another drive, stuck in my old PC.
I'm not too sure how I'm going to handle getting the data off that system, nor do I know where it's all going... It's also got all my music on it, too, so there's a fair bit of info on it!

Lots to install.
Lots to play about with.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Aw, hey, I hope things turn out OK

It might help if you sleep on it.

I've spent the past half an hour watching a variety of classic farbrausch demos, running at 1024x786 on my lovely new monitor, without stuttering, with all graphical effects on full! (Apart from Antialias.. Apparently the onboard gfx won't do that.)

The system is easily capable of running them at full speed.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the graphics, and the driver's working perfectly.

Vista can bugger off!

You are the only person I know who has Vista, and prefers XP. I even know a Mac user who has converted.
