Phantasy Star Online

running on a free server

https://www.schtserv.com/
I used to play Phantasy Star Online back when it first came out on the DC. I must have spent easily over 500 hours on it, and that was only the first episode. For those that don't know it's one of the first essentially an online dungeon crawler by Sega.

In 2003 the Dreamcast servers for PSO were shut down, but that wasn't the end of PSO. It was ported to the Game Cube, XBox and twice to the PC in two different incarnations. One of these was Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst, which is 100% free (you paid for server subscription) and you can still find copies online. However the servers for all of these versions (at least in the EU and US) have now shut down (some a few weeks early). It is now impossible to play this amazing game online.

That was however until SchtHack launched their own unofficial PSO server. It's almost entirely implemented (there are a few minor bugs about) and allows PSO fans to continue to enjoy this amazing game (myself included).

Or if your new to PSO then I highly recommend you try it out!
