What is the problem and why are you using old-style C syntax if you say you're using C++? Post the compiler errors and try to write clear code, rather than the mess you've got going there.

Because of the age of my book I may need to use something online to assist my training. The structure syntax may be out of date although I think that this was written for the Unix shell and the VI editor.
