Program For Peace

Just because we're lazy, doesn't mean we can't help!
Please donate a program!

How does putting programs on this website actually help peace be achieved? I really don't get this... particularly as most games require some sort of battle or destructive element in them, which is completely against peace...

It doesn't help peace be achieved directly, per say. It's more of an idealistic effort, like Bike For Peace (the founder of this organization actually visited our school last year), Forrest Gump's jogging for peace and so on. I think the... founding idea in my mind is that we (hopefully I'll get more software after a while) won't stop working and releasing our efforts for free until all wars have ended.

Edit: There's also Pennies for Peace

I can see bikes being for peace, since the oppressed Tibetans can ride them to somewhere else.

Forest Gump was just jogging because he felt like it.

and Pennies for Peace, it's so the little Armenian children can build penny launchers and launch them through the skulls of their enemies.

making free programs available so long as there are wars in the world.

I don't understand how this supports peace.

By letting people know that we're conscious about it, and letting them know that they can help us and alot of other people in the world by stopping the fighting?
Obviously the programs will be available when wars have ended too - there just won't be made any new ones. So if people need something to do other than fight - they can play the free games over at programforpeace!

"making free programs available so long as there are wars in the world." What's all that bollocks meant to mean? It means "I want more hits for my website without me actually doing anything to earn them".

The problem with 'raising awareness' is that the whole world is already aware that there are wars going on and that no amount of coding games/singing/praying/talking will stop them. As long as the people who started these wars have enough money and brainwashed soldiers, the wars will keep going. The problem with humans is that there are lots of us, probably far too many, but as we are also quite stupid, we will kill each other in wars, the planet will restore the balance by allowing us to kill each other, maybe wipe ourselves out completely, which in the eyes of the planet is not a bad thing. I seem to have drifted off a little there, unless i didn't its late, my brain isn't 100% at this time of the day.

I would keep coding even in the event of world peace though.

Only one way to stop wars, get rid of governments.

I've found that everywhere there's no war, there's peace.
And even in those places where there is war, there's peace amongst the majority of places and people.
So I believe it's not even needed to achieve world peace, as it's already here!

THEIR definition of world peace is no war at all, unfortunately that wont ever happen as there are too many people out there with opposing beliefs and are willing to kill for them.

Ah, I think that will change in the next 4000 years

For which we, and all other inspired people, lay the foundation right now
