You know the deal.
Post your favourite video game music!

Try to avoid using music you composed yourself unless you honestly cannot think of other music that's better...

Edit: I remember that Jay once suggested (in the MudChat) that we are all influenced by the music in the games that we play. I strongly denied it at the time, but now I realize that my love of Jazz might actually have developed when I played LSL7 for the first time...

Placing Vids inside Spoiler tags. When there's this many in a thread it pretty much screws up anyone who's on a slow system, and/or has dialup.

Not a particular favourite, just one that gets stuck in my head for days on end.

I guess one of my favourites has to be Creatures II on the C64 back in 1992. It was based on bonus levels from Creatures, where some mosnters would torture your friends and you had to free them. So all 16 stages of Creatures II were 'torture screens' and you had to save your friend from being cut up and squished. I very good game, you should all hunt it out and play it. It was graphically and musically one of the best games to ever be mad on an 8-bit system, overcoming all sorts of limitations.

And here's the game ending, proving that once, a long time ago, games did have good end sequences...

I just remembered that another game I played back in the day (and still do occationally) with a lovely jazzy soundtrack is Sim City 3000. I might actually have played it before LSL7... I can't quite recall.

The game is now so old that EA's actually made it's soundtrack available for free! Yeay!

I never bothered with Sim City 3000. Tech specs were too much for my PC at the time, and I never really saw too much of an improvement from 2000.
SC4's not bad, though.
..
Still prefer 2000.

Now THIS.. This is fantastic.

I still don't get why they've not done anything remotely like this, since!

...
Sure you used the right code for that video?
It doesn't show up in Chrome or Firefox or IE

Edit: You can say what you want about Sim City 3000, but it had the best music of the series. Sim City 4 has some kind of neo-jazz-pop fusion thing. Doesn't sound terrible, but not nearly as good as 3K!

This is probably the best single piece of game music to have been made after the year 2000:

All hail the Russian Bear! May Mother Russia forever remain strong!

Lyrics
Our Soviet Union subjugates the whole world
Like a gigantic bear from the East.
The sheep wander aimlessly, without any cause,
Yet the Soviet bear's on the hunt.

Our brotherhood's a good life, Our generosity is without compare.
All those with us are strong,
All those against us, beware.
It'd be a shame if we had hardships.

To all those around us, it's not worth your while
If we were to turn you to ashes.
We thank you profoundly, and bow to you deeply,
From the mightiest nation in all the world.

I tend to like alot of the final fantasy music.

...Except the battle music. Not that its bad, but after you hear it several thousand times, anything will suck. They've gotta mix up the battle music at some point.

I second JL's "Landing At Dollet" - When i first heard and saw that, I was so floored. I then humbly submit another FF8 track, "The Stage is Set"
