PMC Request : Any chance of making Ctrl-S do the save! damn thing keeps popping up the browser’s Save-Webpage thing! (Pretty sure it’s somehow do-able.. Google Docs does it)

yup, I already want to do this myself. It depends however on if I can stop all browsers from performing a save on ctrl+s

This doesn't look promising:

mozilla.newsgroups.archived.at/dev.tech.javascript/200702/070209517.html

"No, a webpage cannot override the browser's keyboard shortcuts."

How about just getting rid of save? (autosave)

@Stealth: that is from 2007, in 2011 I just DID disable the ctrl+s in FireFox.

You can also disable ctrl+r, but it doesn't seem to work on the first attempt. Only on subsequent attempts to reload is it disabled. Even then it feels a bit odd that ctrl+r no longer works since it's something I use heavily (and I expect other programmers do too).

Save project, execute game (ctrl+e) and pause-game/pause-game-and-high-the-editor (escape) are both now in.

It also seems to work fine in IE and Chrome.

I gave up trying to remember all the different "build/run" shortcuts.
If F5 doesn't work, and Alt+1 doesn't work, either, I'll just click the damn icon!

They really oughta settle on something.

I stand corrected. Teaches me for Googling and jumping to conclusions.

What you're describing is called "habituation" in user interface design. It's where users become accustom, almost instinctively, to press certain keys. When your hot keys are assigned weird, it provides a terrible experience and devalues the application. The user no longer trusts the interface. It's very important to get this right when you build software.
