Socoder -> On Topic -> Multiple Monitors

There was once a time when I LOVED Multiple Monitors, and couldn't do without them, but..
I dunno..
I tend not to do that sort of thing, anymore.
I've grown accustomed to having everything available on the one screen, and flipping between it all.
I'm not sure why, but I guess it's probably down to my coding method. I'm not using a flashy GUI Based dev-suite. I'm using a single window, plain editor, box of code!

I do have my iPad by my side, though. In many ways, that's taken over most of what I used my second-monitor for. Chat programs, tweets, emails, and other "Not coding!" things all tend to filter through that, as opposed to requiring another monitor.

What about you?
How chaotic is your monitor environment?

To be honest, I couldn't manage working without multiple monitors.

I have a nice Asus 27" for my main use with another two Asus 24" monitors to the left and right of this - one for day job and the other for everything else. This leaves my main display for a fullscreen Visual Studio session with multiple active editors

Yes, probably overkill - but it works for me and saves me from alt-tabbing all the time

Seeing as I use a laptop, while sitting in my fave armchair to do anything and everything computer related a second monitor would be impossible to use. So I don't.

I wish I had multiple monitors!!! 1920x1080 is nowhere NEAR big enough!!!

The problem is my eyesight is fine but I like massive massive font sizes to avoid getting a headache.

Which means I can only fit about one file tree, one 80-column editor, plus one terminal window side by side. And it's cramped!
