Socoder -> Web Development -> Official school website thingie...

Woo, the head I.T. guy at my school has chosen me to be part of the school web team, something that'll both look good on my resume and also count as part of my coursework.

This time, the other guys look like they know what they're doing. The first time (about two years ago), I got really fed up with people and their use of Frontpage and unhealthy obsessions with yellow-text-on-red-background-colour-schemes, and never went back.

I'm hoping to learn quite a bit from the sixth-former (Year 13) who knows MySQL and database stuff, and a hell of a lot more PHP than me. What really suprised me was that there are a few computers stuck around the school that have a dual boot with SUSE Linux if you shutdown the right way and have the right passwords (as I do now! Joy!).

So, this sixth-former guy booted up Linux and used the terminal with the most uber leet terminal usage ever, and knows like every single programming and scripting language there is. He knows about the w3c, and css and dividers-beating-tables-theories. I hope he marries me.

Yep, this is gonna be fun.

He probably does know Fortran! (Hands off him, he's mine. We're not interested in marrying you, but maybe we can adopt you)

Speaking of Fortran, I think I installed a Fortran comiler/emulator sorta thing on Ubuntu somewhere...

Be damned if I can remember what it's called, but I was interested in it. I think my mum's used Fortran before, that's where I heard of it.

can i come to the wedding? Haha, have fun hobo! we're using ASPX at our school; we're completely microsoft-based, save that one Apple II sitting in the library... no linux for us. A few years back we almost switched to FreeBSD, but then we decided to keep it all the same. Windows server has a lot of good stuff for maintaining a large network of computers under a domain. Anyway, good luck on the website, i expect a link soon!
