cannot find my little wireless dongle thingy for it!

And just to clarify, I have bought it so I can set it all up for a bit of programming then do sod all with it! not really, I'm sick of humping my laptop about, so, going to keep the laptop up the girlfriends house, and just use the Pi when I'm in the house, i was going to get meself a tower PC but thought, nor, I don't really play games so a nice little Pi will be just the jobbie to keep me ticking over!

The pi 2 uses a quad core processor and comes with an efficient operating system and software...And is whisper quiet shhhh! lol.

I'd keep an eye out for the release date of the mobile edition, first, I imagine.
AFAIK, the End-Of-July edition is only for desktops and tablets. The mobile version is still WIP.

I ran BlitzMax and it ran so well but the compile is so slow

CodeBlock? It run so quick!

What other programming Language is coming to PI apart from Python?

Ordered a little wifi dongle, hopefully it will come today! *fingers crossed*

My preferred coding cup of tea on Linux is Vala:-

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vala_(programming_language)

She's lovely...

Eeeeeeeeeee, cannot wait till I'm finished work!

The original Pi was awful to code on, the builds would take ages and ages, so hopefully now they'll be more snappy... Still, I don't want to take anything away from the original Pi, when stuff was built, it ran the apps well, little bit clunky, but that was expected!

Took a quick look at Vala...wasn't impressed mate...Just looked like C++/C# with an engine to me.

Grr, don't you hate it when that happens?!! You order something. You expect it to arrive on said day. It doesn't. Much gnashing of teeth and disappointment!

If your gonna do a drop of GUI programming on Linux, then Vala is the lad, and yeah, it's very C#ish, but I like C#, that's why it suits me... Let's face it, it's all horses for courses innit!

Well GUI is a totally different ball-game. So ok, sounds like the fella for the job.

I've never tried C# to be fair...I just loved C... C++ is pretty good - but a bit of a car crash though lol. Will the language grow forever and become non-standard over previous versions?!!

It seems that anybody that has ever written a good routine...Gets it added to the C++ language!! wtf is that all about?!...The STL was a huge mistake in my eyes...Is C++ a language? Or an engine?

I think all languages evolve in relation to what they are needed for mostly and where they are needed, hence why you get platform/compiler specific variants, new ways of doing stuff, which will obviously end up with new arse fangled buzzwords:-

Knob: "Hiiiiiiiiii, just last evening I was refractioning code in Cee Pee Pee, when I decided to throw in some delegates, you know, functors, you cannot code anything nowadays without functors, they are sooooooooo... funk, pardon my lambda expression... God I'm grrrreeeeaaaattttttt"

Me: "Piss off you stupid flid"

^True conversion, honest!*

Seriously though, its a bloody nightmare when you write something in VS in Windows (Because VS is just... Nice), then move it over to a Linux box and you just knowwwwww as soon as you go "G++ yaddayaddayadda" to build it, its going to turn into proper turd and you are going to spend the rest of the night editing code like a mental to get it grafting!

Still... That's where the fun is innit!!!

Oh well, I think Raspberry pi 3(in 2 years time!) should be able do it one day

So, I went for my pizza... Thought, bugger it, I'll just pop to PC World for a quick look at USB wifi adaptors, cos I'm itching to get it going... Spied an Asus one (N53 model), has Windows, Mac and Linux peppered on it, thought this looks the fella... Bought it, got home, ate me dominoes and then went for it!

Sort of worked, then didnt, restarted, same again... Google... Aye, I've done well, I've only gone and bought a bastard adaptor where the out-of-the-box drivers are buggered on the P2!

Stupid twatting thing!

Honestly... I think I'd get more use out of the Pi if I poured custard on the bloody thing, ate it, digested it and shat the bugger back out!

My USB Wifi Dongle works fine. You have to let it scan - and finish, then enter your home network password and save it basically.

I bought this one:

Yeah, most do, apart from the one I bought last night, it's on the support forums, apparently the driver got mangled with an update, though, that happens to me all the time, I should've known, I should've said "right, that's the one I definitely want", picked it up, then put it back down and picked one up at random!

Still waiting for that other one to get delivered, which should work as its just a cheapy!

Well that was emotional... Setting up Samba on the Pi to share folders with my Win7 box over the wifi!

Grafting though... God, I'm git like hellish at knocking my own networkz out me like hew!

Seriously though, I've been piss balling about, done this, done that... sudo apt-gitting-get everything.

Still wasnt showing up on Win7, along comes mister restart reminder on Windows that it was gonna install some updates, I let it get on with it, went to make a coffee, had a tab, came back, and there she was... RASPBERRYPI in the Network bit!

If... IF.. I every have to do that again, and all Windows needed doing was bastard restarting, I'll have a fit!

Still, she works, so, no more chucking stuff about via USB or DropBollox! \o/ yay
