Can't stand plain sponge cake. I think it's the cream that does it.
I used to prefer Rich Fruit Cake, but post-op tastebuds are fussy.
So, I guess I'm a chocolate sponge guy, now.
.. I really like fruit cake, though..

What's your favourite type of cake?

Topic spawned from the slice of leftover Xmas cake I just tried to eat...
Bleurgh!!!

Cheesecake, roulade, spongecake, xmas cake, sticky toffee pudding, all of them!

When I was on holiday a while back, they had a cheesecake that had a chocolate sponge base instead of biscuit, I believe I put on half a stone in those two weeks.

Not being one for sweet stuff, I'm more in favour of savory.

There is of course that, um, one that I can't remember the name of again. The cake pie... pie crust on the bottom, then a layer of jam, then sponge cake. Usually with quite a thick layer of icing and a cherry on the top.
... dammit.

It's frangipane not sponge in a Bakewell...

I used to really love a good black forest gateau, but they are rarer than hens teeth nowadays (good ones).

I don't really eat much cake, but if I do it doesn't matter what it is really. I enjoy anything with lemon (real lemon, not flavouring) and a nice coffee & walnut goes down well with a cuppa.

Battenberg cake, I'd drag my testicles 15 miles through broken glass just for a wedge of that!

None cake, but sweet... Home made trifle, awwww... I love trifle, I'd eat the worlds supply if I had the chance!

I want battenberg with trifle now, in a bowl together... Looks like a quick pop into Sainsburys tomorrow for the lad!
