I won't be joining, but IMHO, you should open it up to the languages in the Blitzverse. Some, like me, preferred others over Max. Blitz is a pretty tiny community now, and you further reduce it by only targeting Max, IMHO.

Wish you luck with it, at least with Proboards there is no out of pocket cost.

Setting up some forums myself for the first time in 10 years.

Haven't you just made one already?

Which one are we supposed to use?

I would strongly recommend sticking with the proboards one, Decent company behind it and know communities who have run on it for decades.

Found a new one (for me) that I will be using.

I'd agree with Kuron.
You've got a niche of a niche otherwise.
Even with Syntax Bomb supporting MORE languages, the interest was limited to maybe 3 or so posts a day by maybe 7 or so active people.
I'd open it up to Blitz + other BASIC dialects.
It's hard to sell new folks on Blitz products too when they've not seen updates in a long time and have missing documentation.

But, you do you. Best of luck!

Although it flew under the radar, Mark was actually providing tech support and in some cases, even updates via the itch.io pages/comment sections. It wasn't a lot, but it was some and impressed the hell out of me since this was for products that he no longer sold and had made open source. Mark cared! The Blitz comments often seemed more active than what many of the Blitz-theme forums were.

The new 3D engine would have breathed life into the Blitzverse for a bit. But, IMHO, it was gravy at this point. Mark just doing something to help his user base, many of who (or is it whom?) had been so loyal to him. Many felt about B3D the way I felt about B+. So dang easy to use and get something up and going with.

Game development tools/languages is an extremely congested category nowadays, with much of it free & cross platform. Hard to compete against that, and everybody has their favorites.
