I guess we'll have to see what happens with BC, really.
I mean, I for one enjoy yapping on about my DS dev stuff, but I was blocked by "We're a commercial website" rules over at CodersWorkshop, so never allowed to do so.

If BC is independent, and allows for a lot of Non-Blitz discussions, then I guess we're all ok, but otherwise I think I'd rather keep this site here for everything that isn't Blitz-y

definitely definites and constant agrees
to that, agent smith. true

I hope a few over there come and join here.
To code and chat. And party program as well.
For me, especailly Oscar, Species, Seth, and Doctor Zarius(robleong). Maybe I can help spring him from the human zoo of San Francisco.

cheers,

It would surprise me if they did, most of them have moved on.

Aha, the new Devcrunch site is working here. I think they've made a good decision actually. The only activity I saw when I went there recently was "hoo wnts 2 mak sum muny? i ned a artist" by the same few people. Not that I'm against people asking for artists or anything, or people who can't spell, but I'm just against people writing as if the forum was MSN... and making the same topic over and over.

But I mean it when I say that I don't think anyone could get closer to BlitzCoder than visiting here... and not just because of the BlitzCoder stylesheet, either!

Blitzcoder is dead. It died with the leaving of Krylar. It was his baby, and nobody else could care for it in the way that he could.

Now, Socoder is Jay's baby (you know what I mean). It's the new Blitzcoder. Different, perhaps, but the soul is the same. We just haven't realised it yet.

hey, you know.

yak, you're right. I didn't really
realize this. Until now.

Yes, indeed the soul is still here.

I've been thinking. I should probably remove the BlitzCoder stylesheet. If BC really does re-emerge, I don't wanna get told off for nicking their style, now, do I!

So, um.. Feel free to go wild with new site styles!

Noooooo! Not unless Krylar tells you to himself.

Noooo! Leave it in, Jay! I need it lol.

Personally I agree with yakyak.
Even if somebody ressurected blitzcoder, they wouldn't do it any justice. Plus the community which made blitzcoder what it was, has all but dispersed... well not all but a large productive chunk of it anyway.

Devcrunch was promising but now it's just another blog with an ad.
I could imagine if BC was devcrunch'd, it'll have an ad on there as well.

/rant off

But anyway, site styles eh? hmmm...

Devcruch was a bit weird and just got weirder.

I think that IDIGICON missed a huge opportunity to gain allot of coders backing them... or at least the money gained from hosting a website with banner ads...

I hope that this will stay around for a while, this is finally my replacement to my BC bookmark. and it's nice to finally have the BC style back.

O ya... hello!!! I've finally jumped ship.

I wouldn't worry too much, christiancoders.com have been using BC's style for years.

didnt christiancoders come first?

I'm not sure about that one, but I think I've seen Krylar on there somewhere.

|edit| Yep... I've just been on the Christian Coders Network, Ye' Olde Great Lord Krylar is one of the moderators. |edit|

Christian Coders came first. In the beginning, Krylar's Blitzcoder was supported and run off the same server as Christian Coders, IIRC.

Keep the BC stylesheet, I use it too. As I said once before, it is not as bad as the others.

The new Blitzcoder has no relation to DevCrunch, and after speaking to Snarty (who is behind the new Blitzcoder) it will be up soon.

Unfortunately I don't see myself getting too involved. If it becomes as technical and 'high brow' as I've heard it used to be, maybe I will. I missed those rare topics on Coders Workshop. But even then it would just be a short vacation from my beloved Ruby.

So... is it coming back or not? This seems to have died off.

I figured if it were going to return in a blaze of glory, that May 1st would be a nice day to do it. (Since that's the day it was also taken down in the first place)

If it doesn't happen by then, I think we can safely assume it was only a rumour.

my long a waited return to civilisation is here... I kina had some major crap go down the last couple of months (kicked out of home, etc, etc, So stuff got a bit out of hand.

I have no idea what happened with devcrunch (but i left the site by my absence). the site was actually meant to have lots of features (and many were in development and nearly complete, so i don't know what happeneed to them).

I'll probably start hanging round here much more often (now things are more stable again).

as for the server... i'm going to leave it as is for now... until my next contract payment comes through

see ya'll round

P.S. (no .NET section :'( )
