A whole big long month's worth of development lead to the following..

1. Floppy Disks
If a level has a floppy disk, you've gotta get all of 'em to beat the level.

2. Teleporters
Step on a green tile to shoot off to another one. They then turn black for a while, and can't be reused until they've recharged.

3. Editor!
A fully (ish) featured level editor that lets you tweak away your level before you save it.

4. Highlighted Levels
Every day, a new level is selected at random, and the last two are highlighted on the menu. If you don't have any of those three levels, they'll be downloaded for you!

Definitely a worthy sequel! Excellent play, excellent editor. My only complaint is that it's a bit difficult. Or I'm just rubbish at it, could be either.

Is it more difficult than the original?

Also, in the training level, I don't think there are special weapons? There should be

Otherwise, it is still great.

No special weapons in the training level, since it's meant to be a bog standard base level..

And, yeah, it's quite a bit more difficult.. Because that's how it's meant to be! It's the different AI styles of the different Aliens.. Makes things a wee bit tougher

Here are my specs...
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+
2.21 GHz, 960 MB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6100

Absolutetly amazing once again, Jay! I love the new features and the editor.

The only slight thing I would say is that you could make the aimer stand out more... sometimes I lose track of where it is and get confused!

New methods in the new one are...
1. The background (Starfield, and Map) is drawn in 2D before the main sprites are overlayed 3D sprites, and then the top layer of overlays is on there..
If your system's struggling with anything, it could be that lower "pre-3D" layer.. I'm not really sure on how well that works on everyone's systems..
Download "The Gear That Works" and try that..
It uses the same method..

OR..
It could be the text..
NVidia came out with a really crapped out driver, once, that completely buggered up Blitz's text function. They might've f'ked it up again.
I'm not sure, having settled on a happy driver and stuck with it!!

If it's #1, we can at least try to remove the starfield, and see if it helps. I not, then.. well.. you'll have to play without a map!!

If it's 2.. It could be tweaked by using bitmap fonts.. Easily solvable.

And..
If it's neither, then your system's worse than my Celeron

Yeah It's the text...my computer hates blitz's text function and yes it works fine with bitmap fonts.

Nice! It does seem to be a little harder than the original, which I was already pretty terrible at. But it's that "URGH WHAT MUST PLAY AGAIN" kind of difficulty.

I also get killer slowdown in menus, and my specs are pretty similar to Erebel's (but significantly slower), including the NVidia card (with the latest drivers), but Blitz doesn't normally hate Text on my computer. The game itself runs just fine, though.

A minor niggle: It's a little unintuitive to hit space to enter a level, since the menu is otherwise mouse-driven -- maybe a "Start Level" button?

Ovrall, it's a nice improvement that doesn't lose what the original was about: shooting lots of things.

PS: "Death Box" ARGH

IT is too Hard! You have done well to make another game

New release, with slightly more whooshyness.

Bitmap fonts are in, you'll have to click the little option on the titlescreen to activate them. Hopefully it does the job.. Might also run better on other folk's systems.. Depends entirely on your system! Give it a whirl!

IT would be nice if you put easy or medium or hard Diffcult setting for user to choose

Yeah, but then I've gotta keep track of 3 seperate scoreboards for each.

..
It's quicker if you just make an easier level using the editor!

Just, don't try the "Kripes!" level, when that turns up.. You'll hate me for months!

I like all the new wooshyness and the new aimer, but for some reason it won't let me save my scores. I copied over the old scores.dat file so I would keep my highscores, but could that be the cause of it?

It shouldn't be..
How bizarre!

Try the following.. Load up, click "Blood : On" to "Blood : Lots", click "Update Highscores", Quit..Then when you reload, see if the blood : lots remains..
If not, email me your scores.dat, and I'll take a peek.

Did all that, and it all seems to work now.

It occurs to me that this may have happened on a level with disks, giving me 0 score - although I'm sure it wasn't... ah well, works now, so that's good.

It isnt hard put in Diffcult setting such easy, medium and hard for user to choose

But then Jay would also need separate scoreboards for each to make the scoreboard system fair, which takes a lot more effort.

The difficulty level of a map can be customised when it is made, to have different levels of enemies, waves, attack types, special weapons, etc.

Things are working nicely.
A new super-weapon's been added... I like to call it The "The ancient weapons platform in Antarctica, but portable" gun.
The old tabs are back to display how well you're playing, with certain kills/time/multi's flagged up as you hit the milestones.

Other than that, same game! Enjoy.

I'm not going to play this all the way through but is there a story line to this?

I don't think so... just a bunch of user-designed levels.

Yep, 'tis just a big bunch of levels with scores..
