Horizontal Shooter

Shoot in a horizontal stylee

HS - Experimental Edition
Screenshots
A horizontal shooter with lots of triangular ships.
Guide your fighter around with the mouse, and fire with the left mouse button.
Guard the fleet on the left. Destroy the enemy fleet on the right.
Pretty basic shooter stuff, but with lots of nice background fancyness.

Latest Update

Every Wednesday I've been posting an Experiment on my website.
Find a game I never finished, and shove it on the site to let people play with them.
This week I decided to pop this on, so I added a couple of bits and pieces before I put it up.. (Previously you couldn't die, nor were there any sound effects or music.)

It's a bit of fun, and seems like it could be enhanced quite easily, so you might see a few updates to this game... You'll have to wait and see!

Good job on getting a review on the2bears site! The game looks pretty sweet, so I'll give it a try tonight.

That cool, nice effects! Make it so enemy missiles are easier to see. Also I seem to run out of bullets and I can only shoot one at a time and I don't know how that works.

The Blue/Red thing along the bottom shows your weapon temperature. If you stop shooting, it'll cool down and you can fire a bit more.

Very interesting. I liked it, but the colours are a bit garish. But I liked the effects with all those lines. How did you do that? Are they drawn to a separate image and then drawn to the background?

I'm not too sure how doable it is, but today at work I contemplated tweaking out this game by adding Music Interaction to the whole thing.

I mean, it's in Blitz, so that's gonna be a pain in the ass to start with, but I think it'd be nice to have time based rounds and things, to keep the action flowing at all times.

I'll be trying that tonight, I think.

Oh,and yes, Diablo.. They're on a seperate image. Saves having to constantly redraw everything each time.. But does reduce the amount of cool stuff you can do with the background.
It's a shame there's no nice speedy Blur function in Blitz..

Haha nice game The trails and explosions are very cool. It would be nice if there were a few more different kinds of enemies. And yeah its a shame that pixel writing is so slow in Blitz
