Wireless N router arrives!

...but doesn't seem to be working. How typical!

Yay my netgear WNR834N router just came through the door and I'm in giddy mode.
Alas I'm getting trouble getting it to detect my phone line as it's got its region stuck on America.

Still the wireless networking seems to be okay, just no internet at the moment. >:| (Btw using my wireless g at the moment).
I will update when I finally get it to work or I send it back for a refund.

Wireless ftw!

|edit| update!
I'm currently sticking the old router into my new one and it's working at last!
But still it's just a quick fix, I need to find out how to connect using just the N router!

Hey, so what's happened is that I quickly learned the difference between wireless router and wireless adsl router.
Difference being of course, the adsl variety has a modem built in.

Moral of the story, if you already have a modem router - say it was given to you by your ISP - and you want to go wireless N, best bet (with netgear) is to buy the DG834N asdl router + WN121T adapter.
Please note, as I have learnt from netgear themselves, do not buy the WN121T adapter to use with the WNR834N router as you'll only get max 54mpb connection. Something about being different chipsets link...

Anyway, got my wireless running at 270mpb in the end. Yay! But at the time of writing, the motherboard for my desktop PC got burnt out so I'm reduced to using my laptop (which has a faulty power supply )

Well think of it this way, If your G is windows98 then N is Vista!

In that case, I'm sticking with G!

Oh bullocks!
Just discovered the reason I'm getting no net... Router Doesn't support PPPoA which I need to authenticate with my ISP.

Arg!

Does anyone know how to change this or am I asking for the impossible?
;_;

You could try asking the ISP (email tech support) if they have any other connection methods, letting them know you bought an N Wifi setup, and can't get it working.

Problem is, using a different router than the one they gave me is against the TOS.
So I'd rather not call them

Seems like another problem has cropped up - I'm using a N-adapter with a different chipset to the N-router so I'm stuck on 54mbps... forever!! ;_;

I'm going to sit in the corner and weep for a bit.
