notepad is just a text editor, a very basic one at that (most advanced functionality is word wrap). So you can just use any old text editor that comes with your mac. To be honest, Mac really isn't the ideal platform for developers... that being said i'm sure there's some sadist out there who likes to develope on mac..

I think TheMadProff uses a mac here

This page has links for mac versions of devkitpro and palib, you at least need devkitpro to code for the ds. You should also have some knowledge of c/c++. I assume you don't as your asking about using notepad. PAlib has lots of examples to hale you learn, but you should also look around for some tutorials for coding in C.

OK, for Mac things are a little trickier, but once you get things going you should be ok.
Hop over to the PALib Wiki and about 3/4 way down that page is instructions for getting it to run on Linux.

For Apple MacOSX users, the majority of this howto will work for you too. The only difference being your ‘make’ tool installation. For that you’ll want XCode.

I've no Mac, and honestly I've never used one, but I'm sure if you get stuck there's others here who have, and can help you along the way.

Either way, once it IS installed and working, the end-language is the same, so you'll be able to just follow along in the regular way.

And, welcome to Socoder.
