Laminate or real wood flooring is better than all of the poll choices. :/

laminate is terrible, real wood is good, I cheated and varnished my floorboards

I prefer carpet... Its a lot warmer then any of them, the only downside is pet hair... But, i get my dogs coat cut pretty often and have a hoover designed for pet hair, so, it isn't actually too bad.

Tiles are awful because they can get slippy, the grout gets dirty easily and you need to cement them down, so when the point comes to take them up, its a nightmare... Very sharp shards and chiselling the cement off the floor isn't fun at all.

Real wood is nice, i would choose that over laminate... Laminate looks okay when new, but if its put in too tight, it gets bellys, as well as the joints swell after so long due to moping, and it easily chips back to the mdf with a good few bumps, which makes it a sponge for water... Its cheap, but cheap as in a waste of money.

lino, its okay for the kitchen, but that shrinks and expands at the edges over time and it eventually curls up at the edges... Anywhere else though like the bathroom or en-suite i go for proper bathroom carpet.

Carpet... Its just... Better!

You can't beat a real wood floor, but laminate is absolutely perfect in my home. I have dogs, cats and pretty much every other animal and it's very easy to keep clean. Carpets get dirty and stink after just a short time (especially in Winter). We had a Vax and a Bissel, but they are just too much hassle. Also carpets trap pollen - my wife and son suffer terribly from hayfever. Sweeping/hoovering and mopping wood/laminate floors gets rid of all of these problems. Not forgetting preventing potential flea infestations from dogs and cats.

As much as cat-hair is a problem, I'm sticking with Carpets, too.
I tend to walk barefoot around the house, and always hate late-night kitchen trips, as it results in me freezing my feet off!

The bathroom at least has little mats, so you don't get cold, but the kitchen's like a giant slab of ice!!!

I have wood in living room, tiled kitched, carpeted stairs and bedrooms, vinyl tiled bathroom and laminate room with my pc and junk in (was there when I moved in, serves a purpose).

The wood is varnished but the cats like to tear around and dig their claws in, needs redoing every 18 months or so.

Suppose its what is ideal for the house and what goes on in it that makes different flooring more appealing for different people... Which is life isn't it!

P.S. This thread has surely got to be the most untopic off topic topic in a programming community ever... Brill! \o/ lol

My dad works for Kahrs, and they only sell wood floors. So the day I can afford to put the floor of my choosing in my house I'll go with that!
