Mr Impatient's GTAV Wait...

GTAV Launch Day.
I pre-ordered my copy from Very, so I knew there'd be a wait.
I also knew which company would be handling my delivery.

Yodel...

..bloody Yodel...

So, when I eventually woke up at 9:30, and the game hadn't yet arrived, I wasn't all that surprised.

"....Yodel's got my GTA... God help me!!!"
I tweeted..
To which came the generic response of ..
"@Jayenkai Morning. Follow and DM the tracking number and I'll do all I can to help. Please tweet when you've DMd me. Danny "

I was expecting this. It happens every time you dare complain about Yodel on Twitter...

This morning, I have nothing better to do, so I decided to play along..
".@YodelOnline every bloody time! I'm only twitter griping, don't worry, Danny. I can cope without my GTAV. .. I think.. Maybe...!!"
...
"@Jayenkai Hiya. I'd like to help you get your copy of GTA. Follow and DM the details and I'll take a look. Please tweet when you've DMd. Dan"

And so I sent Yodel my tracking number, along with the following..

Twitter Linkage

..that was about 10 minutes ago. They haven't replied yet.

The game finally arrived, and has, so far, taken about 20 minutes to install itself.. Bloody hell, it's worse than waiting for a tape to load!!

Can't play too much at a time, it's making me nauseous..
Going to have to limit myself to a couple of hours a day.
Sucks!!

Complaints.
1. Much like GTA IV, GTAV's world is chock full of buildings that you simply cannot enter. For the most part, I can understand why this would be, but having nice big shops line the streets, and not be able to walk inside them, kinda takes you out of the experience a little.

2. Although there's a multitude of radio stations, the music seems very samey.. There's not a massive amount of difference from one station to the next. True, actual real-world radio is pretty much the same, but, come on!!!

3. Buying a can of soda from a vending machine results in a very quick, and unrealistic, drinking animation. tsk, tsk..

4. I might need to replay GTAIV to check this, but I'm pretty sure Niko's walk speed would change based on analogue stick amounts.. Here, the GTAV characters have just two speeds.. Walk, or "Hold X to Run" It's a one or the other, digital control.. No nice gradiented analogue stick speed control. This "feels" like it's missing, and it's really odd that it is..

5. It's not "perfect".. It's only really noticable when you're driving really fast and the closer-building-textures suddenly manage to load in. But, you know what.. When the game's got THAT much going on, and you are running it on what is technically a last-gen console, you can kinda let that slide.

That's all I've found, so far. Some annoying things are fixed from GTAIV, other bits and pieces are still there, but for the most part they've taken what was good and fixed up the bad.

It's a damn good looking game, and the engine is superb.
Yes, it's a violent game and, yes, it's full of swearing, sexual references, and lots of other things, but...
..It has an 18 rating for a reason.
