Things are quiet...

Suggestions?

I don't think it's SoCoder's fault.

We're all quite experienced programmers now, seeing as most have been around since the days of BlitzCoder, so I guess we need less help.

And I got the impression from the last one of these that a lot of us are either very busy or completely knackered...

If you want I could register as a new user and start a "hoe u mak gaem?" thread. I suppose if it was done properly it would be quite a nice read. You know, like covering methods of development, planning and the business side and stuff too.

I dunno. I'm going to bed

well,

the Superman(Clark Kent) and unsung hero
like John McClane in my own continuing "Die Hard"
life series is more quiet now.
Learning to listen more and understand more and be less talkative out in public. Also, trying to cut down on my writing and being less verbose at times.

Sometimes I get pretty busy and/or knackered too.

Also, I learn a lot from all you guys on various subjects and topics too. I read and research more too.

Thank you all.

I'm a fairly quiet person to start with. I just ordered the K-PAX audio book from a popular book selling website for £3! second hand, better than £25 new, anyway, read the books a bunch of times so I guess it;s just for the sake of having it. Excellent books by the way, any of you who read, should give them a go.

I think HoboBen's answer sums it up. We don't all need as much help, and we're also quite busy...

I would like to add that I don't think there are as many noobs around here as there were with BC and CW.

Makes things boring.

Also I think a lot of us have hit that point in our lives (the teenagers I mean) where we are busy with all sorts of things. Could be jobs, friends, girls, school, etc. Incredibly distracting.

I'm surprised that the term "A large community project" isn't listed in the dictionary as "Large failure."

I've yet to see a successful/finished community project.

There is a difference between that and what I was referring to. The Fedora project is a community solely dedicated to the development of that operating system. I was directing my comment towards sites such as this one, where the purpose of the site isn't working together on a big project.

hey spinal,

I think my sister would be interested. She is into audio
books on tapes and cds. I heard a few myself. A few good mystery thrillers and a comedic documentary too.
But I know how to get them and books for free. A new library has been built and opened on Monterey Highway. Its about 2 miles away. So I'll walk over there and register for a library card.

Yeah... what ever happened to Diablos's/JL235's Community Project? It was going quite well for 2 weeks, then it disappeared into the depths...

Unfortunately, that what tends to happen with most community projects.

If we were to attempt one, it'd have to be a pretty decent idea to start with. And I'm all out of those!

Actually, for me the ideas are the easy part..!
The hard part is the amount of time I have (or don't have)

Perhaps we could turn an existing project into a community project. Or even multiple!
I've seen that a lot of people here (including me!) have a lot of (indie) projects.
So sharing and joining in will significantly increase the chance of completion.

Though I think that keeping an eye on 'what is needed at this point' and good communication are important

Why not just start making more open-source projects, and give the community the option of adding to it?

Hm, you mean like, uploading one of our projects, in its entirety, as a campfire?
Would that work?
Is campfire versatile enough?
Or should we use something like Assembla in combination with the community here?
