Blast From the Past

I'm not sure why I stopped doing these, to be honest.
It was all getting a bit too much, there, for a while, and I kinda cut myself out of the whole "everything" for a bit..
Newsletters lacking effort, no AGameAWeek, and then this thing..

Each Wednesday when my alarm went "OI, Get off your arse and do that Worklog thing", I pretty much just shouted at it, and turned the bugger off instantly.
... whoopsy!

Today, I let it beep away.
I was still busy, but I knew if I shut the thing off, I'd never actually get back in the swing of things.

So all day, literally all damn day since 10am, it's been hiding under my pillow going "Bing-bong" every 5 or 10 minutes.
It's now 10pm.
This is me shutting it up!

Ups

What did you get done this week.
• One Turtle Dove
• Unijuggler Update (not that there's anyone to play it, but what the hey!)
• Unijuggler PR (the shitty part of iOS dev.. .. unless you count all the other shitty parts of iOS dev..)
• Started three seperate new iOS test thingies.. not sure which'll end up being finished first/at all.
• Thinking about Tuesday's AGameAWeek, but struggling to come up with pancakes..

Did everything turn out as planned?
The UniJuggler update turned out to be "Fixes and Tweaks only".
I don't like those kinds of updates..
Usually I'd bother to add some new gameplay mechanic, or fiddle about adding new pickups and things.
This time..
Well, I'm not actually all that big on Unijuggler.
To tell the truth, Unijuggler is pretty much just a test game, to try out the new framework.

It does it's job, and seems fine.
.. And then next month, Apple will release a new iPad, and my framework will be completely fucked up all over again.
damnit..

Still, game there. First in six sodding months, so that's good!

Downs

What didn't you get done?
• NeonPlat Classic iOS

Why not?
I put the engine together, but I've been juggling too much, from the Unijuggler update, and the stupid football idea thing, last night, and then the whole AGameAWeek thing in the background, too.
I think I'll set myself a "One per month" iOS target, though.
That gives me about 2 weeks to do NeonPlat.
... Get to it, Jay!

Now

What are you working on right now?
NeonPlat!

How's that going?
I've written a list,
I'm checking it twice..

Next

What's the plan for the week ahead?
• Newsletter
• AGameAWeek
• More NeonPlat
• Stuff my face with more pancakes than any person should ever sanely eat.
• More NeonPlat..

I got started with Android dev (again), which is turning out to be really fun and a LOT easier than expected. Java is a really nice language and I'm growing towards it. I also got a nice Android device a few days ago for my birthday, and have been having fun with speech commands and voice recognition.
A million times more fun than iDev, which was just frustrating.
Fixed a bug in Manifestation where it would try to recalculate checksums based on paths that weren't available in the fileformat when saving previously created manifests.

Got PDPatcher done all the way up to where it starts to download files.
Downloading files will be taken care of tomorrow if time permits.
Also finished 'getmanifest.php'.

Finished Manifestation (for now).
It is now capable of generating manifests and putting files in virtual folders.

Author: Mats Vederhus(2012/02/15 12:27) 1 day ago
Added a couple of readme files for some tools, and continued working on PDPatcher.

Deleted the PatchServer.

Added the Manifestation tool.

Deleted the PatchServer project and all files belonging to it, and replaced it with a PHP script for handling patching automatically. This, along with the Manifestation tool for generating manifests, represents the patching suite that Project Dollhouse will be using.

Author: Mats Vederhus(2012/02/07 07:49) 10 days ago
Added an Anim class to load animations and updated the license for a bunch of files.
Also updated PDPatcher to use HTTP for fetching manifests.

Author: Mats Vederhus(2012/02/04 17:36) 12 days ago
Formally established the PatchServer as a server independent of the LoginServer. CityServers will be responsible for checking client's versions, and if there's a mismatch, the user will have to use the launcher to update the client.

Author: Mats Vederhus(2012/02/03 14:10) 13 days ago
Finished character creation for the LoginServer. Characters can now be stored in the DB when they've been created.

Author: Mats Vederhus(2012/01/22 22:43) 25 days ago
Continued expanding the LoginServer. It now sends information about all CityServers to a client when said client created a character.
Also updated the HandleKeyFetch function slightly in order to ensure that a LoginServer's DB will be updated to reflect the city chosen for a character when a KeyFetch packet is received from a CityServer. The protocol-design document was updated to reflect this.

Author: Mats Vederhus(2012/01/22 18:15) 25 days ago
Updated the license for a bunch of files to reflect the project they belong to, and fixed a couple of bugs in the UITextbox class, where the cursor would go past the end of a string when typing and be drawn before the end of a string when deleting characters.
