I have a cat, called Edgar (Eddie), we got him from the cat's protection league from a friend who fosters cats. We went to visit him since he was 4 weeks old and adopted him at 8 weeks.

On his first visit to the vets 5 days later the vet told us "you should take him back" "he is broken". He had a murmur in his heart. A cardiologist told us that he had 2 holes in his heart, one around the value in the left side and one between the left and right main chambers. He was give a short life span and were prescribed 2 lots of meds, some to control his heart and some to make him wee a lot, the hole between the two sides meant blood was being re-processed by the lungs and this was depositing water on his lungs, he was drowning.

But while he was at home he was perfect, no wheezing or panting nothing. You wouldn't think anything was wrong.

So due to the pre-existing condition we couldn't get insurance but the cardio lady was nice and said she would treat him for free. Another visit a few months later and she was astonished. He had grown which isn't normal in these cases, they normally put effort into controlling the heart.

We dropped him off and went to work and about an hour later the missus got a call, fearing the worst due to the time it took them to call. (they would have to shave a kitten! as well as lube him up for a echo cardiogram!) But she was amazed, he was fixed, totally and utterly fixed.

He is now a normal, if not miracle, cat.

He is 1 today.

lots of pics here

See, you should have just put him down like the experts told you to.

Oh, wait...
