Speed isn't really the issue, for me, it's that when I'm generating a lot I need to hover the MacBook Air off my lap, because it gets bloomin' hot!!
Draw Things can take about a minute to generate an image, and the laptop goes up to about 65 degrees or so.. .. but I've set up Draw Things to upscale the images to 2048x2048, too.
If I turn that setting off, it'll easily do them in about 20 seconds, and an average of about 60 degrees instead!

Diffusion Bee is a little more optimised, and gets it down to about 10 seconds or so, and the heat generally hits about 50 degrees with that.

That is pretty good quality. I guess you can make him do any pose and be in any situation with prompts? Or is there a specific chain that needs to be executed?

It's still doing incredibly glitchy stuff, but once in a while you get something that looks Greenie!

> Reveal 🔎

I have to use Derek Man, because Greenie was causing the engine to keep drawing everything in green, and as anyone who knows Greenie knows, Greenie doesn't do green!
Also, he very often seems to be alone, no matter how many other things I request in the image!!

Retro diffusion, the pixelart model has been modified to work with other stable diffusion software. Not sure if this means it would work with drawthings now.

It is expensive at 60. But things I have seen made with it would not be worse than anything in the arcades.

I started looking if there are any models for pixel art. I found a payed one here at 50 dollars. The output looks great. I might need to start investigating in how to import models and vet models for frauds.

https://www.pxl8.shop/

Here the v1 version that is free is on gumroad. I wil probably need a lot of time trying to get that on and working on drawthings.

Edit: it renders weird images.

Decided to make a nice example showcase things of the different "Sampler" types that specifically the Draw Things app has. (Other versions of Stable Diffusion have different but similar settings, if you can find them in the UI!)

Each image was drawn with the exact same settings, other than the Sampler. Even the seed value was kept the same.
From what I understand, the engine draws a picture, then the sampler "reads" what's been drawn, and it attempts another go. This is the number of steps.
For all images, the steps was set to 30, except for the final two images, where it was instead set to 15 and then 5. The difference between the last couple of images is indeed noticeable.

As you flick between them, see what similarities you can see between the different samplers. It's quite interesting how they each understand the image in different ways, IMO..

Took the past day and a half to redraw Greenie with a more "normal" bald spot, after Woody (friend of College Dave) complained about his bald spot not being very realistic.
The dreambooth trainer seemed to be very wonky, this week, and everything I uploaded was getting weirdly warped.
Greenie ended up with extra limbs, unusually wore glasses, and his mouth seemingly vanished at random intervals.
I've tried again and again, and have now settled on a fairly decent rendering of him.

It's still failing spectacularly, but .. At least on the occasion when the image ends up half decent, it does indeed vaguely resemble Greenie!

It's odd how difficult it is to get it to render Greenie under different lighting conditions.
It's been trained on Greenie wearing his standard suit in exactly the same lighting, so I think I need to retrain (for the umpteenth time!) using a set of differently lit Greenies.
Hmmmm....

I should probably do a few images of him wearing different clothes, too. As much as he "should" be wearing his suit, most of the time, it'd be nice to occasionally have him wearing something else.
Yet any time I ask, it somehow manages to blend the request with his standard suit.
Very rarely have I seen it output him with a hat on!

Having said that, I'm finding that Diffusion Bee is coming out with a much more varied set of costumes and things. I'm not sure why, since both Diffusion Bee and Draw Things are running from an identical .ckpt file, although I should probably note that DiffusionBee seems to "import" the file and convert it to its own format, whereas Draw Things tends to just use the .ckpt file as-is.
Maybe Diffusion Bee's methods are simply better?!
Hmmm..

Why the hell does it keep giving him three arms, though?!
Maybe it's his tie? Maybe it thinks his tie is a third arm??

Step 1. Request image of Greenie being woken up by his cat.
Step 2. LOL
Step 3. Send image back into Stable Diffusion over and over and over again.
Step 4. socoder.net/uploads/1/2023/11/GreenieCat.gif ?

I noticed Bing Images can create really good game art and sprites. I am not using it yet. It mentions you need to start using Bing a lot and convert those usage points into free images.

It gives you, I think, 15 free images a week, or thereabouts. Always seem to be about 15 when I open it! Whether that's "15 each week", or if it's a smaller boost with a maximum of 15, not sure.

If you run out of credits, it only goes slower, not "not at all", so you can leave it going in a background tab and it's fine.

Pushed a new set of Greenie pictures through this Dreambooth colab, last night, whilst listening to the WAN show.
The results are now.. .. Kinda better, maybe, at points.

This time I added captions to each image so it could (hopefully) help to draw Greenie a bit better. One of the tips was to describe everything you didn't want associated with the character, including their clothes.
This is a great tip, since all of the previous Greenies ended up being drawn with the identical suit and tie, and if I want a bit of variety, I could do with that being toned down a bit.
So, I added his cyan jacket and red tie to the list of captions and it helped a fair bit.

Half an hour later, and the new model was ready, and .. Well, judge for yourself..

> Reveal 🔎

I might redo it again, and take out his suit and tie from a couple of the captions, so that it knows that that's the default look for him.

Also, yes, I've also noticed that his arms are up quite a bit, there, and he seems to be wearing a lot of red.

Gawd, I'm still not happy with these training sessions..
Can't believe how much time I've wasted trying to get these to work right!!!

So far the "derek_f" engine is my favourite, but I've also currently got a derek_j and derek_k2 installed.
k2 is actually using Stable Diffusion v2.1, whereas F and J only use 1.5
The results are quite different, but..
.. It just ain't doing a good job, if I'm honest.

J and K were trained on versions of Greenie that I drew without outlines, so they tend to come out looking more like Flash characters, than standard cartoon characters. .. When it does draw them correctly, that is.

F is still my favourite.

Last night's attempts seemed somewhat fruitful.
I fed the same Greenie pics through one of these colab projects.
(Don't ask me which.. Honestly, I tried about 3 or 4 of them, and I can't remember which was the one that worked in the end!)

The end result was a "LoRA" version, a file named "derek.safetensors" which is "only" 151Mb in size.
The results are once again varied, but since it's a new form of model, I can blend it with the old larger model, and the two between them come up with some drastically better imagery.

The one downside is that it now seems to occasionally treat his red tie as if it's a snood.
.. And seeing Balding Greenie with a Snood makes me realise just how much I'm turning into Greenie..

Greenie tends to avoid wearing green. He doesn't like being stereotyped as a green wearing Greenie. Can't blame him. As a Gamble, I typically avoid gambling. .. though I have recently been playing the Lottery. *tsk*

Greenie did put on a lucky green outfit a few weeks ago for StPaddy's day, though, so he's not totally adverse to the idea.
