hey All.

I have some TTF files that give the error message:

' (somefontname.TTF) is not a valid font file.'

How do I fix this?

This occured on a whole folder of fonts for some reason. I went into the internet and cannot find any of them to replace thee folder with good ones.

If the movie TRON has taught us anything, it's to not go into the Internet. The computer world is not a pretty place.

Double click a font, then copy it's name exactly as the windows-font-viewer says it.
If "HappyFont.ttf" actually describes itself as "Satan Is King", then that's what you call it. (Be sure to add the .ttf back on the end)
Rename the file to its real name, and it should work fine.

Back on topic- I'm curious as to what could corrupt fonts. Did you try to look at them in the font viewer? Are they showing up in any sort of text editor?

It's not corruption, it's the Blitz2D/3D/Plus works with font names.
It wants the "Name of Font" to be identical to the "Filename of Font.ttf"

The Font viewer will not open them.
What next?

Well then, yes, your fonts are corrupt. Delete the lot, and start again.

I was hoping that I would not have to do that.

I'll have to forget them then.

I installed fontdoctor, the full version, and got the error that there was a problem witht the font name.

It might be a simple fix if I can get the format or the right name repairing utility.
