Pixel Art Tree Bush Routine(s)

I spend some time studying tiles from a couple of youtube video's. (Dya Games is a good one btw)

Here I did a simple bush and tree. Also a more complex tree variant. The last one I spend some time on.

Aseprite is 6 hours away of being my most used steam game.

The sprites use only a couple of colors.

Nice. I like the barren/leafless trees. They're nice and detailed.

I think I spend an hour on detailing them. I would put them next to the reference and compare. Every time I would notice new details that I had not noticed yet. The more details I added the better it started to look Still I'm not that experienced with the light source yet and can not do lights from a different unreferenced source.

One thing to consider, if you're planning on reusing the sprites a lot, is that your lighting is coming from a specific (left side) direction. This means you can't flip the trees for added variety, since the light would be hitting from the wrong side.
The top-down trees and the smaller bushes would work fine being flipped, though.
