Bedroom 2.0

So... I ordered my new shelves..

Maine, Extra Deep bookcase, with Drawers, in "Walnut Effect".
The walnut should look good against my decades-old wood panelled bedroom walls (there since we moved in!!) and should hold a decent amount of my DVDs, games, and even a bit of that scarily out of control Star Trek Starships collection.

Only £60 each from Argos, which is nice and cheap. Hopefully they're sturdy enough, because I have a LOT of crap!!!

Over the next few days I'm going to be doing a LOT of organising, and shuffling, and hopefully not too much swearing. (Probably a bit of sickness, too, from overdoing things!!)

With me luck!!!

Also...

Shuffled a few bits and pieces around the room, last night, but .. My god, I have a lot of crap!!

Trying to empty the top of the chest of drawers, but there's an Amiga, an X360, a Wii, a Dreamcast as well as various mobiles and DS's, all sat atop the thing, all interconnected and charging and ready to go, with so many wires flailing around, your head would explode!!

Spent most of last night shifting the Mac Mini from one side of the room to the other.
"It's just a little Mac!!" Resulting in wires, cables, monitors, and then trying to figure out how the hell I'm going to power all of this, at the other side of the room, given that I also have a router, NAS drive, giant laser printer, and fairly soon, the Wii, Amiga, X360, Dreamcast, mobiles, 3DD and regular DS to follow suit...

...
Luckily, I have a VERY long extension lead which will power most of the stuff.
.. But first, I need to get at it. It's currently tangled in amongst the "under the desk" chaos!!!

Calmly doing my nut...

*sigh*
After a whinge on the phone, the Argos lady has organised a pick up, collect, redelivery, replacement thing.
Basically this means I now end up spending tomorrow, sitting about, waiting for another sodding deliveryman to turn up...
Bollocks..

I did say "I'm ok with these, and would happily accept a refund/good will gesture," but she wasn't having any of it. I guess they need proof-of-fuckup before doing that sort of thing.

Bedroom 2.0 is now delayed a day.. .. Which gives me time to organise the sprawling mess of wires, I suppose.

Chest of drawers has been shifted. The chaos of cables, consoles and computers is now confined to a red plastic tub, sat in the center of the room.
The drawers were removed, the unit slid across the room nicely, the drawers returned to the unit, and then I was sick from having moved too much.
*sigh*

Tonight, I need to start emptying the desk.. .. That should be fun....

Kuron Moving a chest of drawers would have me in tears, due to my knees being so bad.

That's one of the reasons I use a P-handled sack barrow, arthritis does my beepin' nut sometimes.

Desk dismantling has begun. The two sides are still erect, but the middle main desk shelves are no longer part of it.
Mum's quite excited that both of the sides have stayed "as one", in that each now resembles a tall thin mini shelving unit. I think she's claimed the one with the little cupboard, for part of her sewing corner!!

Argos man arrived with the new bookshelves, but said he'll have to come back later to pick up the older ones, since he didn't have room in his van.
Will begin un-flat-packing the bookshelves later, as I'm currently being sick again :/

DIY, even un-flat-packing, is not good for me! Sick 3 times, already, and the first unit is only just taking shape.. Ugh...
Frame is together, next stage is putting the backplate thingy on, then standing it upright before assembling the drawers...
Damn!!!!

Lost count of how many flatpacks I've done over the years, they do my nut too.

Spewing multiple times a day must also be a real pain in the chad.

I don't mind doing flat packs, as long as the instructions make sense! .. If I wanted a puzzle, I'd've bought a jigsaw!!

Luckily, these are fairly easy to follow. (He says, hoping to god that the metal drawer runners are on right!!)

No progress today.
Was already feeling under the weather, then carried a few shelves up the stairs, and basically just gave up on the whole day!!!
... Sucks to be ill all the damn time, but what can you do.
More progress tomorrow, hopefully...

Having gone through a load of flat pack hell over here myself, setting up the wifes new lady prettying up table thing with drawers and err, an iCade.

My work desk arrived late yesterday and I got that one assembled, sans- instructions with no issues, which is odd as the other ones came with instructions... I don't know, my stupid brain at work clearly.

Purchased myself a lovely mousepad which is surprisingly comfy for just over £5. Might grab another tonight for home also. Ahh, Lady ebay approaches.

This second unit's going to take some time!! Today, I attached the drawer slider things. (Step One!)
Compare that to Wednesday, where by this time, I was lifting the unit up, ready for adding shelves, (step seven!!)

Bloody hell, is it a week, already?!

So much of my week has been spent doing bugger all, it's crazy. I've no AGameAWeek written, no Newsletter done, and although I've done LOADS, you can barely bloody well tell that I've been organising the entire sodding room.

Hmmm..

Anyway, that's the new units, and the vaguely presentable "pile of boxes" alongside it.
Woot!
