Father's Day, Today

The Dad who raised me (step-dad) has been dead for four years. My biological Father who was out of my life for 47 years before we reconnected, has terminal cancer and is dying.

I was working on organizing the studio today and on the desk in there, which I really have not touched in three years was an old Father's Day card my deceased wife, Carolyn had got for me four or five years back. I think it was the year she died, which would be four years. Kinda magically sitting on the desk. I did not know it had made the move here. She always got me a card from our cats and our dogs.

When I saw the envelope, I opened it to see what it was and I completely broke down and lost it. Magical finding it on Father's Day, yet heart-breakingly painful.

For newcomers, Carolyn died 3 1/2 years ago from Covid, and while I was fighting for my life, her family came in and stole our home, our 10.5 acres, our vehicles, virtually all of our belongings and at that time we had seven cats, I was able to rehome one before the other six got put to sleep.

So, an ungodly bittersweet day. So thankful to find this, but oh what painful memories it carries along with all of the happy ones.
