Socoder -> Off Topic -> WebSense evils... and solution

Heya,

School updated websense... so my site, my oscarent site, this site and devcrunch are all blocked. |edit| And gosse's is blocked and tagged as "Sex"! |edit|

But...

However, for many sites, the solution is to add ?blank=0 (or anyother variable that won't interfear with the php scripts) at the end of each url (possibly only works for php websites only).

This means that you can view almost everything except images, some stylesheets, and you can't log in...

However, you can still read updates, which is what really matters.

This is an interesting websense bug, which I hope we can all exploit for the fun of it, because it doesn't require proxys that may not always work.

In other facist censorship news, websense have removed the free-to-use "report site" link (afaik, please correct if wrong), and requires you to log in first. This is possibly due to mine and others much-repeated reporting of "websense.com" under catagory "hate/prejudice"!

that would really suck if it did and there is always a way around those things, i suggest you look through the internet options and see if you can install a different browser under their noses

and see if the bloody thing is in the add/remove programs area. they under estimate us teenagers and they will pay for that soon enough*insert evil laugh*

Not really. All the exploitable computers have died. Right clicking and the "File" menu of any application is removed. All options are disabled. The physical hard drives are disabled other than to boot windows off... However, you can get linux to boot off a CD by messing up the BIOS.

That's not websence... That's set up in something called "Group Policy", open up the run menu and type in "gpedit.msc", then click around through the file tree. You can do all kinds of things like disable right-click, remove file menus, whatever. I've had to set it up at my school, and being a network assistant it makes things a lot easier. The kids at my school are vicious, using programs like Cain & Abel. We had a major security breach two years ago; the guy stole all the passwords of everybody and changed people's grades. We caught him, and he's in prison right now... (hands tied, had to turn him over).

Blocking things like google image search is completely senseless, and its in general annoying. Try using windows live search, last i checked it wasn't blocked (www.live.com). Also, if you go to www.google.com/images it will work because the fools only blocked the subdomain on my school's update.

Unfortunately, we can't change any of the websence settings at our school, as we are forced to go through a county proxy. Else we would have already made a bunch of exceptions to it as our head admin finds websence just as annoying as we do.

Good luck on your ventures, just don't break anything!

I know that that's not websense... That's the reason why I can't get admin rights anymore though

The run menu's been deleted too.

my school has like sitescout or something like that. we couldn't install messenger and aim and stuff, so I showed people how to use the messenger service, then they disabled that too...

and something else that sucks is they installed firefox on all the computers and then I thought finally they're getting somwhere, then they disable it, wtf?! (it's still installed but you can't use it)

also, they set up a program like two years ago that automates all the grade stuff for the teachers, and students and parents can login, but they're too f'ing lazy to configure it!!

okay, I'm done my rant, feel free to continue yours

btw, instinct, what do you mean about win95? (I haven't use it since like 1999)

What if this were not a hypothetical question?

well, if you ever used windows 95, in the login screen if you hit cancel it would log you in with full local admin rights.
